Amarsipidae (Bagless glassfishes)
Etymology: Amarsipus: Greek, a = without + Greek, marsipos = bag (Ref. 45335).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Marine; pelagic-neritic; depth range 30 - 130 m (Ref. 54802). Tropical; 14°N - 20°S, 49°E - 142°W (Ref. 57341)
Indo-West Pacific.
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 21.2 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 54802)
Young specimens occur above large depths and almost all adult ones are caught with pelagic trawls at 30-130 m during trawling in the deep scattering layers (except one in the South China Sea where one was caught by a demersal trawl during daylight at 760-800 m). This rare species most likely belong to the migrating interzonal complex of pelagic species (Ref. 54802).
