Inhabits sandy muddy bottoms in coastal waters and in estuaries. Juveniles restricted to brackish waters (Ref. 9626). Feeds mainly on shrimps. Marketed mostly fresh and salted, an important foodfish. One of the most highly priced species in Trinidad.
