Vertebrae: 156 - 167. Body dark tan to dark brown; with spots anteriorly, coalescing along the posterior trunk and tail to become uniformly dark. Spotted head and dorsal fin. Tubular anterior nostril. Suborbital pores three. Anal fin present. (Ref. 27478).
Inhabits sandy and rocky bottoms up to a depth of 35 m.
