Dorsal soft rays (total): 80 - 86; Anal soft rays: 61 - 65; Vertebrae: 40 - 43. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 80-86; A 61-65; moderately large eyes (2.3-3.0%SL); moderately slender body; many cirri on snout; scales on cheeks and a patch above opercular spine with 5-9 scales; with upper preopercular pore; outer pseudoclasper broad-based, do not extend beyond the hood when in resting position, while the inner one is short, thin, free from the outer one, bifurcate, the anterior pointed lobe short and the posterior lobe much expanded posteriorly; otolith length to height 2.0-2.2, with shallow dorsal rim and weak postdorsal angle; otolith length to sulcus length 1.6-1.7, ostium length to cauda length 3.0-4.5; vertebrae 11(-12) + 29-32 = 40-43 (Ref. 81230).
