Etymology: Pavoraja: Latin, pavo = peacock + Latin, raja, -ae = a sting ray (Raja sp.) (Ref. 45335); pseudonitida: Name from Greek 'pseudos' for false, with Latin 'nitidus' for elegant, refers to the superficial resemblance to its congener Pavoraja nitida.
