Western Atlantic: Bermuda, Florida (USA), the Bahamas and Central America to Brazil.

Inhabits rocky tide pools, eroded limestone slopes and basins, and algae-covered rocks surrounded by sand (Ref. 5521). Also found in areas with coral (Ref. 13628).
