Description of culture system |
Floating cages constructed of medang wood (Litsea spp.) and in two rows of 9 and 11 cages respectively, lying parallel to river bank. Cage station anchored to river bank of Mahakam river in town of Kota Bangun, East Kalimantan. The river is large and swift-flowing (600-6000 cu. m., 0.6-0.8 m/sec.). Water quality is good. |

Description of Nutrient input |
Commercial pellet feed (Comfeed brand), fed ad libitum. A chicken coop with 20 broilers was above the cage and an estimated total of 820 kg fresh chicken excreta dropped into the cage during the culture period and was consumed at least partially. |
