It is similar to B. nuda in having a scaleless predorsal body, by which both can be distinguished all other congeners from northern Asia, with sparsely, or fully scaled predorsal bodies. Can be further diagnosed from B. nuda in having widely separated nostrils (vs. closely-set) and an upper lip with a slight and shallow median indentation (vs. marked and deep median indentation) (Ref. 93050).
