<dc:description>A benthic species in reefs (at least 10 m deep) with low to medium relief and substratum covered by encrusting, sessile, filter-feeding ascidians, sponges, bryozoans and octocorals. Based on jaw morphology and material from stomach, may have a similar diet as Cremnochorites capensis which is a carnivore, feeding on small crustaceans, mainly amphipods and isopods. Based on difference in caphalic lateral systems A. hystrix and A. rufus possible exhibits resource partitioning (Ref. 35802).</dc:description>
