Sexual dimorphism: F of smaller size and light colors with dorsal fins well separated; M larger size, prolonged posterior and anal ray, rounded caudal fin, posterior membrane of first dorsal fin reaches almost to the second. Reproduction: direct pairing with demersal, adhesive eggs laid on bottom after male has selected spawning site, male guards eggs until hatching (Ref. 2906, 44894).
