Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 16.0 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 59043)
Differs from its congeners in Apennine Peninsula by the following characters: dorsal fin with 7½ branched rays; anal fin with 8½ branched rays; posterior margin of anal fin convex or almost straight; scales on lateral line 37-40 + 3; and a row of black pigments along free margin of each flank scale, forming a regular reticulate pattern (Ref. 59043).
Occurs in small to medium-sized premontane streams with Mediterranean water regime. May be confined to very small pools during summer (Ref. 59043). Inhabits brooks, brooklets and small rivers. Feeds on invertebrates (Ref. 26100). Spawns in shallow riffle habitats in fast-flowing water (Ref. 59043). Threatened due to the introduction of other species, pollution (Ref. 26100), habitat alterations and water abstraction (Ref. 59043).
