Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal soft rays: 5 - 7; Vertebrae: 32. This species is distinguished from Odontocharacidium aphanes by the following characters: presence of the antorbital (vs. absence in O. aphanes); presence of the supraorbital laterosensory canal (vs. absence); presence of postcleithrum 1 (vs. absence); presence of conspicuous bars extending ventrally to the middle portion of the body (vs. bars restricted to the dorsal part of the body); presence of two dark round blotches located at the tip of caudal peduncle (vs. blotches absent) (Ref. 122685).
