This species is distinguished by the following characters: tail 1.9-2.2, head 18-19, and body depth 52-77 in total length; preopercular pores 3, pores in supratemporal canal 5; teeth are conical, uniserial on jaws and vomer; vomerine teeth 6; MVF 78-158, total vertebrae 155-162 (n=4); body when preserved is mostly pale (Ref. 101270).
