Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 9; Vertebrae: 26. This species differs from its congeners in having the following set of characters: segmented dorsal- and anal-fin rays, 8 and 9, respectively; elongated body, its depth 13.5-15.5% of SL; males with greatly prolonged (extending beyond posterior end of base of second dorsal fin when appressed) and filamentous first dorsal-fin spine; anteroventral and/or distal parts of first dorsal fin may have small black spot(s) (smaller than pupil); small 3-6 black spots on second dorsal fin; dorsal margin of caudal fin with some narrow black markings, in addition to the blackened posterior margin (Ref. 75138).
Collected from fine-sandy bottom (Ref. 75138).
