Differs from all other species of the genus by having black zigzag longitudinal lines between longitudinal rows of scales in midlateral and midventral portions of body, maxilla with 3-5 teeth, pelvic-fin with i,6 rays, anal fin with 18-22 branched rays, 4 scale rows above and 3 scale rows below of lateral line, lateral line with 9-13 perforated scales, and 33-35 scales in a longitudinal series (Ref. 56786).
