Etymology: Ctenogobius: Greek, kteis, ktenos = comb + Latin, gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Powell Clayton (1833–1914) was US Minister (ambassador) to Mexico. He was honoured for his ‘many courtesies’ during Meek’s field work in that country (1901), which he extended (1903). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
