Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 7. Sides of the body light tan or silvery with numerous black pepper-like spots. Belly white. Fins clear. Shape of the body is fusiform with the ventral area somewhat dorso-ventrally flattened. Mouth inferior with any teeth, small, but conspicuous barbels at the corners of the mouth (Ref 53793).
Inhabits sand and gravel runs of small to large rivers (Ref. 86798).
