Distinguishing characteristics of metamorphosed female: esca unusually large and laterally compressed esca, greatest width more than 1.5 times its length; terminal escal papilla, rounded; well developed posterior and anterior escal appendages, usually bearing 1 or more tiny, slender terminal filaments; upper jaw with 67-111teeth, lower jaw 51-68 teeth; vomerine teeth 6-10 (Ref. 86949).
Specimens trawled off from bottom at depth up to 1216 m (Ref. 86949).
