Forward directed spine in front of dorsal origin; lower lip very thick, with complete post-labial groove; 4 faint, incomplete bars in juveniles (Ref. 43281). Deepest part of body situated in origin of dorsal fin and abdomen slightly rounded; snout blunt; barbels 2 pairs, rostral one thin and maxillary one quite thick and strong (Ref. 45536).
Length reaches to at least 40 cm SL (Ref. 43281).
