Distinguished from all its congeners in Lake Ohrid by its orange flesh. Can be diagnosed from at least Salmo letnica and Salmo balcanicus by its osteological characters (Ref. 59043).
Occurs in lakes. Spawns near sub-lacustrine springs along eastern shore of the lake in May- July (Ref. 59043).
