Etymology: Zoarces: Greek, zoarkes, -es = that gives life (Ref. 45335); fedorovi: Name was in honor of the Russian ichthyologist Vladimir Vladimirovich Fedorov who has much contributions towards the study of fish fauna of the Far East seas, particularly the zoarcid systematics.

Found under stones in the channel of a river during low tide (Ref. 74969). Largest mature individuals caught measure 21.5-31.5 cm TL (Ref. 74969). Viviparous, with variable number of eggs, 4-131 (Ref. 74969).
