This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D XI,13; A III, 11; 11-12 scale rows below lateral line; 5.5 scale rows between the fifth dorsal-fin spine base and lateral line; 53-55 pored lateral-line scales; scaleless preopercular flange; 8-9 gill rakers on the lower limb; head and body silvery-black; no golden longitudinal line on the body; pelvic and anal fins are dusky gray (Ref. 94713).
Imported into Korea from Indonesia as frozen commercial food (Ref. 94713).
