Dorsal spines (total): 5 - 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10 - 13; Vertebrae: 43 - 45. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: posterior end of maxilla not slanted downward; midlateral scales with an indented posterior margin; posterior margin of anterior predorsal scales with a spatular outgrowth; posterior margin of axillary scale without a distinct projection; midlateral band somewhat wide and its lower margin reaching to or below the ventral end of the midlateral (third) scale row at the level of anal-fin origin (width of midlateral band 24-32 % of body depth and 62-83 % of caudal peduncle depth); interorbital width somewhat wide 35-43 % HL (Ref. 92894).
Collected by purse and bag seines and rotenone (ref. 92894).
