Dorsal soft rays (total): 71 - 82; Anal soft rays: 58 - 69; Vertebrae: 43 - 45. The species is distinguished by the following characters: vertebrae 11 + 32-34 = 43-45, dorsal fin rays 71-82, anal fin rays 58-69; eyes large (2.3-2.8% SL); outer pseudoclasper moderately large, broad, wing-shaped, with tip slightly bent outwards, with a characteristic kink at the base seen from ventral view; inner pseudoclasper bifurcate, both branches of about equal length, broad based, flap-like; narrow scale patch on cheek with 4-5 scale rows, no scales on operculum; head short, with blunt snout; otolith thick with gently curving dorsal rim (Ref. 57884).
