Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

This species can be distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: long mesethmoid, with anterior tip well developed, significantly over 50% of bone length; posterior margin of dorsal-fin spine with serrations directed towards tip of spine; 1-2 longitudinal black stripes on flanks; no black blotch across the eyes (mask); large black blotch on dorsal fin absent; and presence of transversal black bars on caudal fin (Ref. 110223).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Found in small stream (2-3 m wide and 0.5-1.8 m depth), with clear water, preserved riparian vegetation, and swift water current. Bottom substrate composed mainly by sand and dead leaves (Ref. 110223).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.02512 (0.00965 - 0.06539), b=3.00 (2.77 - 3.23), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
