Has a black blotch at the base of the caudal fin, which is not always distinct; rows of spots along scale rows; two pairs of barbels (Ref. 27732).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Found in midwater to bottom levels in small rivers, canals, ponds and reservoirs (Ref. 12693). Occurs in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Moves out into flooded forest during high-water season. Diet consists mainly of insects with some aquatic macrophytes. Used to make prahoc. (Ref. 12693).
