Dorsal spines (total): 0; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 192 - 22. Snout moderate, about 1/2 eye or a little more; maxilla moderate, tip not sharply pointed, not or only just reaching hind border of pre-operculum; gill cover canals of walkeri-type. Anal fairly short, its origin under about midpoint of dorsal fin base. Anus nearer to pelvic fin tips than to anal fin origin. Silver stripe along flank, about 1/2 eye diameter or a little more.
A schooling species occurring in coastal waters. Recorded in salinities of 7.94-31.31 ppt in the Santa Cruz canal, Pernambuco, Brazil. More data needed based on correct identifications.
Spawn in school (Ref. 205).
