Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 184 - 185; Anal spines: 0. Snout short, acute, ventral surface in front of premaxillary symphysis naked, otherwise head surfaces completely scale-covered (Ref. 1371). Spinules on scales moderately slender, lanceolate (Ref. 1371). Overall color is grayish brown; trunk dark, violet tinged, grading to medium brown posteriorly; fins pale to blackish; first dorsal fin black on distal half; mouth blackish, gill cavity mostly black (Ref. 1371).
