Vertebrae: 161. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: head larger than trunk, HL 49.3%-56.6% pre-anal length (PAL), gill opening width is larger 15.3%-16.5% HL; rictus at posterior margin of the pupil; dorsal fin origin is slightly before the pectoral fin insertion; eye diameter 1.7-1.9 times in snout length; ethmovomerine teeth patch is broader than long with 41-44 recurved pointed teeth in six or seven rows; vomerine teeth patch pentagonal with a single tooth on posterior end, the vomerine teeth patch longer than broader with 40-41 pointed teeth in 11 rows; predorsal vertebrae 9-10, pre-anal vertebrae 35, total vertebrae 120+ to 161+. Colouration: body bicoloured, pectoral fin almost black with whitish ventrally, peritoneum and stomach black (Ref.130611).
