Etymology: Badis: 'badis' is presumably a Bengali local name, possibly derived from 'bhedo' or 'bheda', but it lacks a proper reference. Probably incorrect etymology (J. Müller, pers. comm., April 2021, after information from native speakers);  limaakumi: Named for s Limaakum, Assistant Professor at the Fazl Ali College, Nagaland..

The type locality in January 2022 had a depth of 0.5 m, bottom substrate consisting of numerous boulders and rocks. Associated species include Esomus danrica, Amblyceps apangi, Garra sp., and Psilorhynchus sp. (Ref. 129303).
