Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16 - 17; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7 - 8; Vertebrae: 26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D X,16-17, fifth or sixth spine longest; pectoral rays 13, at least some middle rays branched, upper 5 or more unbranched; predorsal scales extending forward only up to supratemporal commissure. Colouration distinct with the dorsal and lateral body bright orange, becoming yellow-orange ventrally, crossed by narrow, red-edged pink oblique bars, which extend along base of anal fin, the posterior part of caudal peduncle with broad orange-red bar, caudal fin yellow (Ref. 123579).
