This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D IV- V +I,12-14; A I, 22-24; 36-37 lateral scales; 10 transverse scales; 17-19 anterior scales; 12-15 cheek scales; GR 17-18 on first arch; pointed head with a long snout length, 9.1-9.7% of SL; intermediate interorbital width, 8.4-8.8% of SL; compressed body with a long anterior back length, 51.1-53.2% of SL; large caudal peduncle depth, 10.7-11.6% of SL; long pectoral fin length, 20.2-21.9% of SL; moderately short dorsal fin base length, 32.9-38.5; dorsal fin base protruding vertically behind anal origin, between 3rd and 5th anal soft ray. Colouration: distinct red margin stripe on second dorsal fin (Ref. 103156).
Found only in the type locality, with depth to about 4 m, with moderate to fast flowing clear water over a limestone rocky substrate. Maximum length based on type specimen, to be replaced with a better reference (Ref. 103156).
