Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal soft rays: 8; Vertebrae: 43. Diagnosis: distinguished from the only congener, C. bamen by smaller predorsal length (43.7-47.3 % SL vs. 47.8-49.5), smaller prepelvic length (46.8-50.9 % SL vs. 51.2-52.1), shorter rostral barbel (14-24 % HL vs. 32-46), shorter maxillary barbel (28-39 % HL vs. 40-57) and different pharyngeal tooth pattern (2,4,5-? (1), 1,3,5-5,4,1( 1), 2,4,5-5,4,2( 2) or 3,4,5-5,4,3( 2) vs. 2,3,4-4,3,2) (Ref. 103410).
Type specimens were collected in a large 10 m depth pool by gill net; water flow out from a hole at the bottom of the pool; the artificial pool have been built 1995; water of the pool had pH 7.7, water temperature 28.9 °C and dissolved oxygen 13.4 mg·1-1 at 20 cm under surface; and 23.2 °C and 7.4 mg·l-1, respectively, at 2 m depth (Ref. 103410).

Estimates based on models
Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref.
82804): PD
50 = 0.7500 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00724 (0.00339 - 0.01546), b=3.06 (2.88 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref.

Resilience (Ref.
120179): High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
