Dorsal soft rays (total): 73 - 80; Anal soft rays: 57 - 64; Vertebrae: 40 - 43. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 73-80; A 57-64; moderately large eyes (2.2-2.8%SL); slender body; many cirri on snout; scales on cheeks, none above the opercular spine; with upper preopercular pore; funnel-shaped posterior nostril; broad-based outer pseudoclasper, not extending beyond the hood when in resting position, with thick distal knob on the inner face, while the inner one about half size of outer pseudoclasper, anterior thorn slightly bent, posterior lobe broader than the anterior one; vertebrae 11-12 + 29-30 = 40-43 (Ref. 81230).
A gravid female, 4.6 cm SL (CAS 81486) with ca. 100 embryos, 0.46 cm TL in length; each embryo with 3 short pigmented rows on the posterior part of the body (Ref. 81230).
