Freshwater; demersal. Tropical
Africa: widespread in the Congo River basin in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 42493), Republic of Congo (Ref. 44840), Central African Republic (Ref. 45441) and Angola (Ref. 11970, 120641). Also in the lake Tanganyika basin (Ref. 36899), but apparently only in lower courses of tributary rivers, including the Malagarasi (Ref. 54847), and not in the lake itself (Ref. 36901). Reports from the Sanaga (Ref. 51193) and Benue (Ref. 42497) in Cameroon questionable and unconfirmed (Ref. 81274, 81635).
