Body slender, elongate, and little compressed; supra-maxillary moderately wide, its posterior end reaching the center of the eye; lower branch of first gill arch with 21 to 23 gill rakers in individuals more than 20cm long; anterior lobe of second dorsal fin moderately deep; lateral line without scutes; caudal peduncle with dorsal and ventral fossae; back violet brown to bluish green; flanks and belly pale; pectoral and caudal fins yellowish; pelvic fins white; dorsal and anal fins mostly dark (Ref. 55763).
Are benthopelagic in coastal areas (Ref. 9283). Marketed fresh and salted or dried (Ref. 9283).
