Short head (14-17% of SL); long pectoral fin reaches pelvic-fin insertion; vomerine teeth in single patch; rays at middle of anal fin shorter than depth of body where they attach; anal fin free from caudal fin or narrowly connected at the fin base; caudal fin truncate of slightly emarginate; gill rakers fully formed, not reduced to nubs (Ref. 12693).
