Etymology: Pseudochromis: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); kolythrus: Name from Greek kolythron for ripe fig, alludes to its green coloration when alive, with the purple representing the split skin if the ripe fig, exposing its interior; noun in apposition (Ref. 81967).
