Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal soft rays: 10 - 13. Mogurnda arguni is distinguished by the following combination of characters: 11 or 12 soft dorsal rays; 10-13 (rarely 10 or 13) soft anal rays; 15-16 pectoral rays; 36-40 scales in lateral series; 17-22 predorsal scales; usually 9 lower limb gill rakers; snout profile straight to slightly convex; pelvic-fin length 21.0-24.2% SL; caudal-fin length 26.5-29.1% SL; and young specimens with series of 10 dark bars on side while adults generally darker with less vivid bars (Ref. 95614).
Inhabits relatively clear and slow-flowing Wahisewar stream, a tributary of Togarni River, with patchy aquatic vegetation. Occurs syntopically in the stream with other fishes such as Melanotaenia ammeri, Pseudomugil sp., Glossamia arguni and several gobiioid fishes including Redigobius chrysosoma, Mugilogobius mertoni, Eleotris melanosoma, Periophthalmus weberi, and Oxyeleotris nullipora (Ref. 95614).
