Vertebrae: 28. This species is distinguished by the following characters: vertebrae 28; interpectoral width 94.7%-107.9% BD; vent-anal-fin distance, 5.0%-6.9% SL; pored lateral-line scales 30-31; fully developed supraneural bones 3; predorsal vertebrae 4; snout pointed with a shallow ethmoid furrow and weakly developed fleshy appendage; a gracile, narrow-necked, shallow-keeled urohyal bone (Ref. 131375).
This species was collected in rocky, rapids habitats of both the main channel and tributaries, where the water is slightly acidic (pH 5.5-6.5), has low conductivity (2–5 μS/cm2), and low concentration of dissolved solids (TDS 4-10 ppm) (Ref. 131375).
