Dorsal spines (total): 2. Large, soft head inflated. Sensory canals on head with small pores. Dorsally scaleless snout extend to the level of the anterior nostril. Rudimentary barbel, less than 3% of head length (HL); orbit diameter about 28% HL; snout much longer than orbit, about 1.1 into the broad interorbital. Light organ poorly developed and visible only as a small, naked, black projection in front of the anus. Second spinous ray of first dorsal fin smooth. 1D II,9 (Ref. 11651).
