Dorsal spines (total): 6 - 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10. Characterized by pale grey body color with pair of diffuse dark bands below eye, broad brown saddle on top of head, behind eye extending to upper opercle and lower opercle; second brown saddle across nape; dorsal midline from dorsal fin origin to caudal peduncle with six diffuse brown saddles, centered; fully united pelvic fins, frenum present; rounded caudal fin; longitudinal scale series 31; reduced number and size of head barbels, only two on each side of chin, one on each side of anterior gular region, and remnants on snout; cycloid scales; cheek and opercle without scales; deeply embedded nape scales; depth of body 5.4 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Ingle specimen collected from sloping reef in 15 m (Ref. 90102).
