Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Differs from other congeners in Black and Caspian Sea basins by the possession of the following characters: barbel reaching to anterior eye margin; breast naked between pectorals; snout length greater than postorbital distance; head length 23-28 % SL; head depth at nape 14-15% SL, at eye 45-54% HL; body depth 18-22% SL; head width 13-15% SL 49-64% HL; eye diameter 4-6% SL, 2.8-3.2 times in head depth, 1.3-1.5 times in interorbital distance at 8-10 cm SL; and caudal peduncle depth 29-39% HL (Ref. 59043).
Occurs in a wide variety of habitats in rivers and streams. Size reaches up to about 10 cm SL (Ref. 59043).
