Dorsal spines (total): 7 - 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10 - 11. Whitish with two black stripes, one middorsal and the other lateral on head but passing to lower side on body, both ending in caudal fin; pale band separating two black stripes bright yellow on head, this band narrowing as it passes anteriorly, forming a V on top of snout with band of other side (Ref. 13442).
Found on live coral. Removes ectoparasites from other fishes. Monogamous (Ref. 52884). Has been reared in captivity (Ref. 35408).
