Etymology: Cobitis: Greek, kobitis, -idos = a kind of sardine; also related with the voice Greek, kobios, Latin gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Farhad Faridpak (1910–1995) was an Iranian ichthyologist and fishery scientist who worked on the fish of the Caspian Sea. Most notably, he was the founder of the Iranian Northern Fisheries and was a member of the board of the Iran Fishery Organisation. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
