Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 13; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 7 - 9. Roundish black marks on the pelvic, dorsal and anal fins; a black band along the distal margin of anal and pelvic fins; a black band along the distal margin of anal and pelvic fins in adult males (band also present but fainter and narrower in juveniles and females); enlarged anal fin with rounded distal profile in adult males; fins brightly colored with orange or red chromatophores in live adult males; reduction of adipose fin, which may be very small or even absent; lateral line complete or at least extending well beyond the 12th scale of series.
