Body uniform dark brown in color on eyed-side; 2-3 dorsal pterygiophores articulating on dorsoposterior margin of anteriorly curved neural spine of second precaudal vertebra; urohyal with angle usually greater than 100°; length of posteriormost dorsal fin ray in caudal peduncle depth usually less than 1.5.
Frequently captured on the slope of the continental plateau (Ref. 5377). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
