Vertebrae: 45. This species is distinguished from all other genera of Labeonini by the following characters: a thick, pendulous rostral fold; upper lip closely adnate to upper jaw; upper and lower lips continuous around corner of mouth; continuous postlabial groove; with a pair of mental grooves; a pair of maxillary barbels, and branched dorsal-fin rays 10-11; differs from its congeneric species by having circumpeduncular scales 12-14, pre-dorsal midline scales 17-20, a wide head 96.8-138.5% HL, a longer postorbital length 64.6-81.0% HL, and a short dorsal fin 21.9-26.2% SL (Ref. 130432).
Occurs in the sluggish zone of the main stream at an altitude of 539 meters, in areas about 2-3 meters deep, with substrate consisting of boulders, cobble and sand. Associated species include Devario fangae, Tor qiaojiensis, Neolissochilus compressus,
Garra salweenica, and Pterocryptis berdmorei (Ref. 130432).
