Marine; demersal; non-migratory; depth range 5 - 30 m (Ref. 6205). Tropical; 19°N - 11°N, 79°E - 85°E (Ref. 6205)
Eastern Indian Ocean: East coast of India. Although regarded as a distinct species, its close similarity to Sillago asiatica indicates that the latter species is a junior synonym of Sillago soringa. Both species are being retained pending a full study of the Indian material (Ref. 6335).
