This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: absence of scales in the head and area between the pectoral fins and pelvic fins; incomplete lateral line; presence of eye; 8-10 inner?gill rakers on first gill arch; tip of the anterior nostril being elongated to barbel?like and the nostril barbel length being nearly twice the nostril tube length (Ref. 137642).
